Morocco has solidified its position as a key trade partner for Spain, emerging as the third-largest supplier of agricultural and fisheries products to the Iberian nation after France and the Netherlands, according to official data released by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food.
The figures, published in the 2024 Foreign Trade Report, reveal that Moroccan exports of agri-food and fisheries products to Spain exceeded €2 billion, with a notable presence of mollusks, red fruits, legumes, and vegetables.
This places Morocco just behind France and the Netherlands in the ranking of Spain’s top suppliers in this sector.
On the export side, Spain shipped over €1.22 billion worth of agricultural and food products to Morocco, representing 4.8% of Spain’s total exports in this category for 2024.
Key Spanish exports included soybean oil, live sheep and goats, and cattle.
The report also highlighted the resilience of the Spanish agri-food sector, which recorded a 5% annual growth, reaching €75 billion in exports and contributing to a trade surplus of €19.2 billion, a 21.2% increase from the previous year.
Spain’s fruits led the export chart with over €10.8 billion, followed by meat and dairy products.
